The United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service Western Region has awarded Wenatchee High School with the Food and Nutrition Service, Western Region’s 2019 Champions of Breakfast Award for the category Implementation of an Innovative School Breakfast Model.
The Champions of Breakfast Awards recognize schools and districts that operate exemplary School Breakfast Programs that have sought to increase participation. The WHS is being honored for the operation of an innovative breakfast model by ensuring students still had access to breakfast through Grab & Go meals when schedule changes wouldn’t allow for a Second Chance breakfast meal service.
In a news release, Marisa Cheung Director of Special Nutrition Programs for the USDA’s Western Region applauded Wenatchee High School’s commitment to School Breakfast and thanked the team for their dedication to providing nutritious breakfasts to children.
