91ÖÆƬ³§ the Wellness Policy

In June of 2012 the 91ÖÆƬ³§ Board of Directors approved a new Wellness Policy.

A wellness policy is required to be in place for all school districts in the United States.

The administration of Wenatchee Schools recognizes that meeting all of the policy requirements may be challenging.

To address those challenges we have created this webpage with resources for Parents, Principals, Teachers and Administrators to use to bridge the gaps that they find within their buildings when working to meet the wellness policy requirements.

Parent Letter in English and Spanish

Purpose:

In 2010, Congress passed the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. It requires all wellness policies to include:

• Involvement of stakeholders
• Goals for nutrition guidelines for all foods available on school campus, nutrition education and promotion, as well as physical education and activity
• Notification to the public; and Monitoring and evaluation.

Resources:
School Wellness Policy Best Practices for Policy Development, Implementation and Evaluation is designed to help schools implement the requirements of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. Throughout the toolkit you will find best practice examples of the great things schools across Washington are doing to improve nutrition and physical activity.

We have also created some resources in house that may be helpful.
